Scholarship Information
Radford University offers various merit-based scholarships to qualified students.
Listed below are the scholarships specifically awarded to incoming students:
- Presidential Scholarships (New
Freshmen Only):
To qualify for consideration, students must apply by
December 15 and acheive a minimum
cumulative GPA of a 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) and combined critical reading and math
SAT I scores of 1180 (or higher), or an ACT score of 26 (or higher). Several full
scholarships, which include the equivalent of in-state tuition and fees, room and
board, and a book stipend, are available. Partial scholarships, which are applied
to tuition and fees or room cost, are also available. Students must maintain a minimum
3.0 GPA at RU and good conduct to renew the scholarship each year. Qualified students
will be sent a scholarship application packet requesting essays, letters of recommendation,
transcripts, and a listing of extracurricular activities, community service, honors,
and awards. If selected as finalists, students will participate in an interview
process at RU in early March..

Deans' Scholarships (New Freshmen Only):
Deans’ Scholarships are for out-of-state, new freshmen students only. The
applicant must have a 3.2 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and combined critical reading and
math SAT I scores of 1050 (or higher) or an ACT score of 23 (or higher). This is
a continuing scholarship, provided the student maintains a 3.0 GPA at Radford University
and resides in a University residence hall. Eligibility is determined during the
review of the student’s application for admission. Those out-of-state students who
wish to participate in our Academic Common Market program are not eligible for our
Deans’ Scholarships. For more information about our Academic Common Market program,
please contact the Office of Admissions.

Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Student Scholarships
(Transfer Students Only):
Eligible students must be a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and must have
completed the equivalent of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of college level
work with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale) on all work attempted. A varying
number of renewable room scholarships, worth approximately $3,300 per year, are
available. Students must reside in university residence halls. Completed application
materials must be received by March 15. Scholarship recipients will be notified
in mid-April of their award.

Major Specific Scholarships:

Pridemore Scholarship in Theatre
Freshman majoring in Theatre with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher and a combined
math and critical reading SAT I score of 1100 (or higher) applying by February 1
will be invited to compete in this scholarship competition. Students will compete
for a $2,000 tuition award totaling $8,000 over four years.

National Science Foundation Grant
Freshman majoring in Mathematics or Computer Science with a cumulative GPA
of 3.2 or higher and a math SAT I score of 550 or higher are eligible for this award.
Students should apply and qualify for need-based aid.

Enid K. Milton Math Scholarship
Students majoring in Mathematics with a strong background in math and strong
math SAT scores are eligible for this award. The award amount varies each year and
the scholarship is renewable, provided the student maintains a 3.0 GPA at RU and
majors in math.
